…today’s secret…Shadow prisoners.
In Genesis God said, “Let there be light” and our universe sprang into existence.
From then on it became a matter of perspective.
Behind you, when facing the light, is your shadow. You have created a hole in the light.
A silhouette is what we see when we look toward the light.
A silhouette is not a shadow.
Shadows speak of the past. Silhouettes speak of the future.
The people you are helping to work and play well with others are prisoners of their shadows. Their hands and feet are bound by yesterday’s memories and tomorrow’s fears.
Many live hand-to-mouth. Some don’t feel safe, from a troubled neighborhood or a dysfunctional family. Some are just trying to figure-it-out-as-they-go. All of them know hardship.
They are in front of you now. For some reason you became a honing beacon for them. They want to be free of their handcuffs of dread. They want to separate themselves from their shadow.
They can’t or won’t express it, but, down deep, all of them want to belong. They want to be a part of something, recognized for who they are. They want to be a silhouette.
I don’t pretend to have a solution how.
But, I do know that they all want to live in the light. Your role is to help them begin creating a future in that light.
I know, freeing shadow prisoners is hard.
Thanks for being a beacon.
