…today’s secret…Wile-E-Coyote. Beep. Beep.

How’s things with you? Ready to begin a new year?

You know you are going to have some bad days this year.

The people you are helping will have some too.

I would ask you to think of Wile-E-Coyote When one of those bad days pop up.

The Road Runner and Wile-E-Coyote were a one-trick-pony cartoon for 15 years beginning in 1949.

In each cartoon the cunning and always hungry coyote keeps trying to catch and ultimately eat the Road Runner. The coyote uses absurdly complex mail-order contraptions to catch the Road Runner, which comically backfires with the coyote getting slapstick injured.

In one cartoon I counted 30 creative attempts to catch the speedy bird, all failing.

And each time Wile-E-Coyote picked himself up and went back to work.
And each time Wile-E-Coyote picked himself up and went back to work.
And each time Wile-E-Coyote picked himself up and went back to work.
And each time Wile-E-Coyote picked himself up and went back to work…

…you get the picture here.

On Saturday mornings when I was young I loved the Road Runner. RR saw no danger. Beep. Beep. RR was impervious to danger. Beep. Beep. RR never tired. Beep. Beep.

I’m older now, much older. I understand the lesson was always about the Coyote.

And each time Wile-E-Coyote picked himself up and went back to work.

Wile-E was determined. Determination is the willingness to pay the price as often as it must be paid – never losing sight of what you want. It’s all the long-game.

When your day sucks his year, when the people you are helping flounder, will you smile and pick yourself up and go back to work like Wile-E-Coyote? Will you help pick them up?

Beep. Beep.
